This bill mandates fire departments provide insurance for firefighters for the purposes of filing claims for cancer treatments.
The bill does not require the cancer to be work-related and includes 21 different cancer types, however, firefighters must be employed with the department for at least 12 months before coverage is available.

The bill also awards firefighters who are disabled as a result of cancer to receive a lump sum and a monthly benefit for 36 months.
It also applies to volunteer firefighter.
