HB 183: Community Affairs, Department of; Georgia Geospatial Advisory Council; recreateVoted on Tuesday February 14, 2017
John Pezold's thoughts
This bill re-creates Georgia Geospatial Advisory Council under the Dept. of Community Affairs instead of GA Department of Natural Resources where it used to be.
The purpose of the legislation is to bring the state in line with federal guidelines and come up with innovate ways to expand geospatial technology.
but I voted NO because the Commissioner of DCA and the Governor will appoint members of the Council, which doesn't leave much room for outside viewpoints. It also recreates a council under a state agency which isn't necessary in terms of governing purposes.
