HB 196: Income tax; exemption for royalties paid to musical artists; provideVoted on Friday March 3, 2017
John Pezold's thoughts
HB 196 relating to the computation of taxable net income by allowing for an exemption on income paid during their lifetime to musicians, composers or performers for the licensing or other authorized use or reproduction of their musical compositions
The exemption sunsets on December 31, 2022.
This bill failed overwhelmingly the first time it was presented, however, it was proposed a second time as the exact same bill and enough NO votes switched to YES to allow it to pass.
I voted NO because I do not believe a lifetime exemption on certain taxable income in Georgia is appropriate.
