HB 391: Safe Place for Newborns Act of 2002; revise provisionsVoted on Friday March 3, 2017
John Pezold's thoughts
HB 391 expands the locations where a mother may drop off her newborn child into safe physical custody to include fire stations and police stations. Instead of capping the age of the child at 1 week, the legislation increases it to 30 days old.
The mother also has the option to willingly provide proof of her identity, name, and address.
