HB 44: General appropriations; State Fiscal Year July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018Voted on Friday February 17, 2017
John Pezold's thoughts
HB 44 is the FY 2018 budget. Set to begin July 1, 2017, this year's annual budget totaled $24.9 billion in state revenues. It's just over $1.2 billion more than the FY 2017 budget.
Highlights from the FY 2018 budget include a 2% merit raise for teachers, a 20% raise for state law enforcement, and $600,000 for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to test and process the backlog of untested rape kits (an initiative we passed during the 2016 legislative session)More information on legis.ga.gov
