SB 69: Packaging, Labeling and Registration of Organic Products and Certifying Entities; registration requirement; eliminateVoted on Thursday March 9, 2017
John Pezold's thoughts
SB 69 amends agriculture code section related to packaging, labeling, and registration of organic products and certifying entities by eliminating a registration requirement.
Specifically, it removes a part of the section that states no person shall produce, process, distribute, or handle in this state any advertised or identified organic food or product unless that person has first registered with the Dept. of Agriculture. It also strikes language that licensed retail food sales establishments that do not process or repackage certified organic commodities shall be exempt from the registration provisions of this chapter.
